The McInerney School was founded in 1989 as a continuation of the May Kelly School, Swindon, which Mike took over upon her retirement. The School expanded in 1995 to the Newbury and Thatcham areas and more recently in 2003 to Calcot near Reading. The McInerney School of Irish Dancing teaches Solo Step and Ceili Dancing to children from the age of 5 years.
The school is primarily taught by Mike McInerney who is a qualified Teacher and Adjudicator within the An Coimisiún le Rincí Gaelach, organisation. Since 1995 His Daughter Claire McInerney, who has reached World Championship standard as a dancer , has also taken a lead teaching and coaching role within the School.

So where are we ? The McInerney School has classes which are based along the M4 Corridor in the counties of Berkshire and Wiltshire to the west of London.
Directions Exit M4 at Junction 16 (Spittleborough Roundabout). At intersection, follow the signs to Swindon A3102 (Great Western way). Continue 0.5miles to first Roundabout (Blagrove ) take 2nd exit signposted town centre. Continue 1.7 Miles to Manningtree roundabout, take 2nd exit B4006 signposted Churchward, North Star, Cheney Manor). Continue 0. 5 miles on the B4006 to The Meads roundabout (Junction with B4534) At roundabout take 2nd exit. Continue 0.5 Miles to the Barnfield Roundabout and take 2nd exit. Move over to Right hand side of road as you head to next roundabout (one in a group of 4 roundabouts - see multimap picture) At Roundabout take second exit , straight over and then take 3rd exit on next roundabout to go "right" into Rodbourne road. The Hall is then on your right. |
Directions Follow A4 from either east or westerly direction towards Thatcham. At Roundabout with Pipers Way follow exit signposted Thatcham British Rail Station. Continue along Pipers Way until Roundabout with Station Road. Take 2nd Exit into Station Road. Continue along Station Road , take first right into Wheelers Green way. Burdwood Community Centre Hall is ahead on the left hand side |
Directions Exit M4 Junction 12. Follow signs to A4 Reading (Bath Road). Continue 0.25 Miles to roundabout , take 2nd exit onto A4 Royal Avenue. Continue to next Roundabout, turn left into Highview and continue towards Calcot Centre. |

School, Mike achieved significant successes
in both local, regional and especially in the larger London based
competitions. The
McInerney School of Irish Dance was founded in 1989 in Swindon Wiltshire
as a consequence of Michael McInerney taking over the running of the May

The school has achieved notable successes, gaining a Boys British National Champion in 2003 and regularly achieving qualifiers and placing in the World Championships over the last few years. Some of the schools more recent achievements can be found on our Information pages. |
